blurb

“I don't know if it’s fate, coincidence, or my curse, but I'm still breathing, and my breaths are for you.”
Mags McManus is far from a normal woman in her mid twenties. Being a war widow, a business professional, and a brokenhearted train wreck only skims the surface of the layers of who Margret McManus truly is. Waking up in a hospital bed, alone and confused, Mags once again has to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart. With her best friends by her side, Mags slowly starts to learn the answers she so desperately longs for. But is everything going to continue to spiral out of control? Or is there a light at the end of this dark, twisting tunnel where all the broken pieces can finally fall back together?

My Review:

Book 1 ended with a huge discovery one, that tears Walker and Mags up. It is a secret that if gets out can cause some real big issues for Walker - personally and professionally. Just as Mags had found comfort and was starting to heal from losing her husband, she know much deal with what she learned about Walker and losing him as well. In the second book in this series Mags has to assesses everything that has happened in her life and figure out how to pick up the pieces and whether she can learn to forgive. This was a heartbreaking sequel of a woman desperately trying to pick up the pieces of her life and start mending her  heart back together. But who will she choose to stand with her?

Once again this book will have you shedding some tears and also going on a world wind of  a ride with our main character Mags. I was glad to see that the drinking was addressed in the second book and was one of the obstacles that Mags had to overcome in her grieving process. Once again in this book we see the beautiful friendship that were created in book 1 and we see the friends sticking up for another in so many different ways. I enjoyed the journey that Mags and Walker had to go through to find one another and the ending was the perfect icing on the cake!

I took fistfuls of his black, long-sleeved, cotton shirt, pulling him as close as I could get him.  I wrapped my legs around his waist and began to kiss as passionately and roughly as I ever had.  I was hungry to taste him again, to feel him again, to simply love him again.
Right then, everything melted away—the fact that we were in the middle of nowhere in a gas station, that I was supposed to hate his guts, that he had a Hyde side of him that was evil and tortured.  In that moment, we were simply us—desperately and madly us.
Walker slowly shoved my jacket from my shoulders and tossed it on the metal chair next to us.  Panting and gripping the hem of my shirt, he pulled away to look in my eyes. “Mags? Are you sure about this.”
I kissed him softly on the cheek. “Let’s just not think for little. Please.”
He nodded and pulled my hips hard into his, letting me feel how ready his body was for me.  I pulled his shirt up over his head, revealing all the gorgeous artwork that covered his chest, shoulders, and arms.  I traced my finger tips from the start of his wrist, following the flow of the inked lines until my fingers were stroking his rigid abs just over his belt buckle.  Walker’s breathing was heavy as he watched me take in the manly beauty before me. Slowly, I started to kiss from his collarbone to his jaw, finally finding his soft, desperate lips.

My Review:

Being a widow at any age must be a difficult thing. But becoming a widow at 24 is extremely devastating. This is exactly what happens to our MC Mags. She married her college sweetheart and their life was perfect, a new house, a new car. She had everything she wanted. But tragedy strikes as her husband Randy is killed in military accident. Finding it difficult to move on, she finds comfort in her 3 best friends. One of them which who happens to also be her deceased husbands best friend, who is also struggling with the grief of losing his best friend. What initially starts off a platonic friendship starts to develop into sparks, but with either of them be able to move on from losing Randy to find comfort and love with one another? Will Mags every learn the big secret that Walker keeps?

There were many enjoyable aspects about this book. First off I am always a big sucker for any stories that have to do with service men and women. I was instantly drawn into the heart break that Mags was experiencing after losing her husband. I also really enjoyed all the different friendship in this book. Whether it was with Mags, Calie, Mitch and Walker or the loving relationship that Mags still has with her ex-husbands parents. These relationships were real and you could feel the love flowing from the pages. I enjoyed the story and there were a lot of twists and turns that come up that made it interested. I would have liked to seen a little more character development, especially with the relationship between Mags and her mother and personally there was just a little too much drinking going on for my taste. But overall I did enjoy this book and enough so that I immediately picked up book 2.
