Amazon Synopsis:
The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts, and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires...
From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn't resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside--so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.
No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I'd been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.
Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession...
My Review:
Like many of you, I had been waiting for this book to be released for a very long time. And it seemed like every-time I checked Goodreads, the release date kept getting pushed back later and later. I told myself, that this book better be worth all this wait and suspense.
The 2nd book in the series Reflected in You, ended with so much happening. First off we got down to the root of what happened in Gideon's past and what is behind all those terrifying nightmares. Second Gideon may or may not be responsible for the death of Eva's half-brother who had brutally raped her when she was younger. With all the new revelations and unanswered questions, I dove into Entwined with You as soon as I picked it up from the library.
Was this book everything I was expecting it to be? Honestly, No. Was it enjoyable to read? Absolutely! I really was expecting this book to wrap up the love story for Eva and Gideon. However even before I picked up the book, Sylvia Day announced that there was going to be a 4th book. I was initially thrilled about the idea, but after reading this book I began to change my mind.
If I love a character and a story I of course would love to read more about them. However not if is adding more books to the series takes away from the integrity of the story line. And this is what I felt happened with this series. With the decision of expanding the series, I felt like Entwined with you ended up being a filler book. Yes, there are some new twists and turns with the story, some new plots introduced, and it wouldn't be a Crossfire book without some AMAZING sex scenes. But could have all of that been included and the story have wrapped up? Absolutely!
But on to some good things. I have to admit that I was one of the readers who discovered this series after finishing the 50 Shades of Grey series and wanting to read another story about tortured love. But I have to admit that apart of me ended up liking this series even more than 50 Shades. I love how both Gideon and Eva have a difficult past that they must over come to be together. Who better to understand what you are going through than someone who has had a similar upbringing. When one of them is having a hard time, the other is the rock that holds them. Their love is raw and pure and unconditional. Seeing them grow as a couple is what saved this story for me. And I'm hoping that the 4th and hopefully last book in the series, brings us the closure that we want to see for Eva and Gideon.
I love the Sylvia Day Series so much! I can't wait for the next book!
