My Review:
As an avid reader there are many reactions you get after reading a book. There are books that make you laugh. Books that make you cry. Books that make you turn the page with anticipation. Books that make you want to throw it against the wall. Then there are books that completely touch your soul as you read them, and I will have to honestly say, that Coming Back to You by Devon Youngblood is one of them.
Maura and her best friend Ruby are out dancing, when Maura realizes that her ex-love is back into town. Maura and Pierson were high school sweethearts who were separated when Pierson joined the military. When he left, Maura never heard from him again. She did not receive one letter, e-mail or telephone call. Even when Maura lost both of her parents in a tragic accident. He was the love of her life and when she needed him most he was absent.
It took Maura many years to get her life back on track, and when she finally finds a happy place, Pierson is back into town and conjurers up all the old feelings Maura has worked hard to push away. But being back in the same place at the same time and it is hard for them to resist one another. But they are not the same two people who fell in love years ago. They are both worse for wear with problems to over come. As Maura struggles with the loss of her parents, Pierson has his own demons to face. The very sad reality of many ex-veterans: PTSD. Pierson is haunted by bad memories that makes it impossible for him to move on from the horrors he encounterd overseas.
This book is about two haunted people helping each-other overcome the obstacles in their way to happiness. When I was reading this story, I was so happy to see the author take on such a heavy subject as PTSD. It is something that I have yet to read about in any books and it made me enjoy the story even more. I loved reading about how Maura and Pierson find a way to be each other's rocks and find a way to love one another again. Yes, it is not easy and they hit countless bumps along the path, but in the end they are able to do so.
I really enjoyed the book and was excited to be able to ask the author a few questions! Read below to find out more about the authors inspiration behind the book and following Prequel and Sequel that will be out soon!

Questions
First
off thank you for such a beautiful and heartfelt story. I devoured it in one
evening.
In
this story you touch upon 2 very difficult topics to write about. A girl losing
both of her parents at a young age, and an ex-soldier facing the very sad
reality of PTSD. What made you decide to write about such tough subjects? Did
you ever find yourself regretting this decision?
I wrote about it because I don’t think there are
many books on the subject. And it’s something that I believe needs attention.
Most soldiers don’t realize they have PTSD or they don’t want to admit it
because they think they are perceived as being weak. And that’s not the case. I
don’t regret writing about it at all. I toyed with the idea and I was afraid
some readers would be offended by the subject. But in the end I just went for
it. I made sure to do plenty of research just so I could subject right.
Many
authors choose to write their stories in two different POVs. However, I have
never seen it done in the way you laid out the story. What motivated you to do
so?
At first I just wrote from Maura’s POV. Then just
about half way through Pierson got in my head and wanted to speak for himself.
Figured it was only fair to let him have his say J
I
was excited to see that there will be a prequel coming out early 2014. What can
we except? Can you tell us more about it?
I am VERY excited about this as well. It is more of
their story. Maura moves to the town her freshman year of high school. And she
meets Ruby who is also new to the school. Naturally they became fast friends.
It’s just a story of their high school days. How Maura and Pierson meet, their
first kiss, her family not approving of the relationship and many other things
that teenagers go through.
Book
2 will introduce two new characters and a new story that I am looking forward
to reading about. Since they are tied with Maura and Pierson, can we expect any
appearances from them?
As of right now, they will not be in book two. Maura
is mentioned, but she has not made an appearance. I’d love to work them into
the story, but I’m just sure if it is feasible for the story as a whole. It’s
still a work in progress so you never know.
Lastly,
because I loved reading about them and would love to find you more,
can we
expect a Ruby and Trevor story anytime soon?
It’s certainly not out of the question. I’d love to
write about them. Just depends on what the readers want. If they want more, I
may write it.
Fun
Facts about the Devon Youngblood.
Favorite TV Show/Movie?
TV Show:
Vampire Diaries. Movie: The Notebook
Do you have a specific room in your
house or a coffee shop which you like to write in?
In my living room on the
couch. I need to be comfy.
What is the last book you have read
that made you cry?
I’d have to Marley and Me by John Grogan
Thanks for taking the time to read
Coming Back to You! And thanks for having me!!
About the Author:
I Love love love to read. I've even had a story stuck in my heart for well over a year. I put pen to paper but ended up giving up on it. That was over a year ago.
Well that same
story is still stuck in my head, so now I am determined to get it ALL down and
put out there.
I am happily married and have an awesome stepson. We call ourselves the Three D's.
I am happily married and have an awesome stepson. We call ourselves the Three D's.
It is my little family and I would do anything
for them.
Right now I am
working two jobs, trying to eat healthy & workout and I’m writing. Getting
my reading done during any spare moments I have.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I'm enjoying it as well. :)
