Hey All -
When we were contacting authors about our blogaversary events, we asked
them if they had any new projects that they wanted us to share with you guy.
And along with the 5 copies of The Fairest of Them All, Carolyn
offered to send us 5 issues of the Faerie Magazine. Specifically the MERMAIDS issue, which she was the editor-in-chief of.
Let me just say when I flipped through this magazine I FELL IN LOVE! So much so
that I even Skyped Patricia in Spain and flipped through the magazine via WebCam.
It has amazing photography, fun articles and even great book recommendations!
We definitely wanted to share this with you guys and asked Carolyn to write a guest post
about the magazine!
Seriously guys you have to get your hands on these magazines, especially if you are a paranormal fiction lover!

So Faerie Magazine is a lush, quarterly print magazine that has been around since 2005 and has always focused on the magical and extraordinary. I came on board for the special "Mermaids" themed issue that came out this past winter. It was a long time in the making and it's pretty stunning! There's original fiction and poetry from authors like Tera Lynn Childs, Alice Hoffman, Aimee Bender, Keith Donohue, Francesca Lia Block, Sarah Porter, Matthea Harvey, Jane Yolen, and more. I profiled cover model Hannah Fraser, who talks about swimming with whales and sharks, Tim Gunn (about mermaids and fashion!), mermaid tail maker Eric “The Mertailor” Ducharme, legendary artist Michael Kaluta, Mami Wata expert Henry Drewal … and there’s a ton of gorgeous photography and art. All the mermaidliness anyone could want! After writing my novel Mermaid and running my I Am a Mermaid blog and doing plenty of mermaiding myself (I have an essay in this month’s Allure about my experience at Weeki Wachee’s mermaid camp!), I loved being able to showcase all these amazing ways that mermaids have inspired people.
It was so fun, bringing all this beautiful writing and art and photography together, and to profile these amazing personalities, that I’ve stayed on as editor-in-chief and we just finished the Spring issue, which has all kinds of lovely stuff: fairy fashion, sweet spring umbrellas, berry pie recipes, a profile of a female knight, several featured artists, fiction from Joanne Harris and Kate Forsyth, an interview with fairy tale expert Maria Tatar, an essay by Jeanine Cummins explaining why she teaches her daughters to believe in fairies, several stunning pieces by authors talking about their favorite magical destinations … and more. It’s really, really beautiful. It’s at the printer right now and we’ve just started on summer!
Do you like the idea of having this bundle of magic in your hands? Well, now you can have it in digital version, too! And since the Faerie Magazines are on sale you can have them all only for $2.50! Here are all the magazines you can buy. Click on the image to buy them:
