Vivian and I left LA at 1pm to head down to San Deigo. Our other usual partner in crime Amber couldn't make it due to work. But I was able to take a few of her books with me to get signed for her. It took us a little more than 2 hours to get down there. We hit some traffic and made a couple of wrong turns. (Amber is nick named MAPQUEST for a reason). But we got there with a few hours to spare. After checking in to the bookstore to get our books, we decided to head to Souplantation for dinner which has become our tradition when we go down to San Diego. On the way there we saw Stacee at Starbucks and stopped by to say Hi! She was gracious enough to save us seats inside the bookstore while we went to go get dinner. So thanks to Stacee we had front row seats!
About an hour before the signing it quickly became a packed house!!!
Richelle herself showed up about a half an hour before the signing and I believe became startled with the mass amount of people and went into the office before the signing actually began.
At 7 o'clock at the dot she came back up to the podium to start. She usually reads a fight scene from the book, but I am guessing from the amount of people showed up. She wanted to save more time for some Q&A and to actually get everyone's books signed.
But she began telling us about her inspiration behind the Gameboard of Gods had stemmed from when she was getting her Masters in Comparative religion. What would happen to the world if you took Spirituality out completely. Would people strive to get it back? This book takes place 100 years into the future. The main thing she loves doing in her writing is throwing in Juxtapositions. Dimitri and Rose, Georgina and Seth, Sydney and Adrian, and now Mae and Justin (her two protagonists from Gameboard of Gods).
There was a lot of Vampire Academy movie talk, a lot of Bloodlines talk, and even some questions regarding Dr. Who. Unfortunately my recorder was having issues yesterday, but Stacee has a great recap on her blog so if you want to see more Q&A's you can go to her page.
When it was out turn to meet her, she was only doing 1 personalization per fan. I mentioned that I was getting the Amber's book personalized since she couldn't be there. And Richelle offered to do an extra personlization for me.

Now on to the good stuff! So after getting a great deal on Gameboard of Gods (thank you to Barnes and Noble Member savings) I had some money left so I decided to do not 1 but 2 prizes for this giveaway! And here they are!
They also had some awesome swag there too. There were Sampler books that contained the 1st chapter of Indigo Spell, Vampire Academy and the Gameboard of Gods. I was able to take a couple extra for you guys! They also were giving out a free Vampire Academy keychain with each purchase. So I have one to giveaway!

Also Adrian. He's just on another level. He's so entertaining, and who I look to forward the most in Bloodlines.
Richelle's books are fantastic and its great to see she is trying a new genre which should be both great and interesting to read :) My favourite character from Richelle's books would have to... Tough decision but its a tie between both Rose and Demetri. I love how Rose is strong and has no feelings when it comes to protecting Lissa but yet she is very emotional and determined when it comes to her love for and gaining Demetri's love. I love Demetri and the way he comes across in the books, so mysterious, professional and lovable. The way he is with Rose both human and strigoi. The way he gives Rose the nickname of Roza. Really I could go on about them both but its best if I stop now :P Great giveway by the way!

She is always sarcastic, and kicks a**, literally we take karate and she beats all the boys lol, and her hair is red like Roses', so definitely Rose. ReplyDeleteI really do like Richelle Mead's novels. Although I have only read the Vampire Academy Series, I LOVED THEM. My favorite Richelle Mead character is Dimitri. He is sweet, tough, compassionate and calm all at the same time. Not to mention I love him and I liked his Russian background and his family. Even in the worst of times he was strong.
