Book Description:

What’s a girl to do when she learns she’s descended from a vampire? Being unable to age is only the beginning…

Laura Dantonville is a Primary school teacher with one wish—to marry her boyfriend, Detective Matt Sommers. When her aunt Judy reveals a frightening family secret that explains her rare genetic mutation, it threatens to propel her into a dark underworld where her true family waits.

Laura’s future with Matt hangs in the balance.

Alec Munro never wanted to become guardian to a Dantonville regardless that her blood is coveted by his vampire-kind. But his sire, Lucien Lebrettan, gave him no choice. Now he’s faced with not only protecting the girl, but fathering a child with her in order to end his servitude—and a centuries-old curse.

… which some among his kind will do anything to prevent.

My Review:

Paranormal is one of my favorite genres, but I am always so hesitant to give it a new author a shot as paranormal is one of those genres that can is either a huge hit or big flop. But I am happy to report that this book was absolutely amazing! I actually read all 400+ pages in one day and could not put it down.

This book is told in two perspectives, which is very common in books now a days. But the way that these two perspectives are told is completely different than what we have become accustomed to. The two main characters are from different eras so the dialogue was easy to get into the mind of each character.

But in my opinion the best part of this book was the story line. It was so unique and engaging and kept me intrigued the entire time. I am always craving originality and boy did this author give me what I wanted. I think I spend about 20 minutes after finishing this book explaining the story to one of my non-blogging friends and that should tell you how much I truly enjoyed this book. Bravo to the author and I can't wait to read more of her work!

About the Author:

My name is Tima Maria Lacoba and this is my first novel.
For the last seventeen years I’ve taught English and History in a high school in southern Sydney. Before taking up teaching I was a practicing archaeologist, working on several digs around the world. Unfortunately, steady contracts in this field were hard to obtain, hence my gravitation to teaching. It was fantastic being able to teach my field to Year Eleven and Twelve students and then take them on overseas excursions to visit the amazing sites they’ve only seen in books.

Two years ago I resigned and surrendered to the itch of writing. After a many years of reading and correcting my students’ creative writing tasks and essays, I decided it was time to write my own. I couldn’t hold it in any longer.
